Biography
Fuzhong Li is the Senior Scientist at the Oregon Research Institute (ORI). He received his Ph.D. from the Oregon State University in Exercise Science and joined ORI in 1996. Li has been the Principal Investigator (PI) on eighteen National Institutes of Health (NIH)/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded research grants and co-PI on several others. His substantive research areas include, but not limited to, falls prevention for the elderly, exercise training on balance, postural control, and mobility for people with movement disorder, research-to-practice translational research, and built environment influences on obesity and physical activity.
Li served as Council Member on the CDC Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC; 1997-2012) and a member of the Science and Program Review Subcommittee (SPRS) of NCIPC, CDC (1997-2012). He also served as a regular member on the Nursing and Related Clinical Sciences Study Section (2010-2012), the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Science study section (2005-2009), Risk Prevention and Health Behavior Study Section (2009-2013), Risk, Prevention and Health Behavior (RPHB) Integrated Review Group (2014-2015) at NIH, and a regular panel member of Aging & Neurodegenerative Disease, Rehabilitation Research and Development Parent IRG (2016-2022), Veteran Health Administration (VHA). He currently serves as an Ad Hoc member on various study sections at NIH, including Special Emphasis Panel Member for ZRG1 RPHB-W 55 R, Risk, Prevention, and Health Behavior (RPHB) IRG, and National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). Li is the Associate Editor for the Journal of Sports and Health Science (Impact factor 11.7).
