RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Halvorson-Weaver’s research interests focus on the intersection of psychology, sociology and exercise physiology in female and pediatric populations. Her research methods vary to include qualitative and quantitative approaches to understand the “why” behind biological responses seen in sport and exercise settings. Most recently, Dr. Halvorson-Weaver has been working to explore the lived experience of concussion recovery outcomes in female collegiate athletes and develop concussion risk factor profiles.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Prior to joining the UTK faculty, Dr. Halvorson-Weaver served as Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Human Performance at Newberry College and Instructor of Kinesiology at Anderson University. While at Newberry College, Dr. Halvorson-Weaver recieved the SCICU Excellence in Teaching Award (2022) and recognition for Outstanding Service to Colleagues (2021) for the development of online instructional guides and online/hybrid pedagogy workshops during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Halvorson-Weaver is a proud Lady Vol, participating in the Throws for the Tennessee Women’s Track Team from 2009-2014, where she was a six-time SEC scorer, five-time NCAA regional qualifier, three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and UT Academic Athlete of the Year in 2014.
