The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS) congratulates Jeff Cochran, Phd, on his appointment as head of the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling and welcomes him as the newest member of the CEHHS Administrative Council.
Cochran, a professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, will assume his duties effective February 15, replacing Ralph Brockett who served as interim department head for the last two and a half years.
Cochran’s research interest include:
- Child-centered play therapy
- Counselor skill and personal development, contributing factors to counselor development, and measurement of counselor confidence for therapeutic relationships
- At-risk children, youth and families
- High-poverty schools
- Person-centered and humanistic approaches to counseling
