Shelby Peel was awarded the 2019-2020 Yates Graduate Fellowship. This fellowship is given in recognition and support of outstanding graduate students completing their doctoral dissertation.
Shelby is on target to earn her Doctorate in Kinesiology and Sports Studies, emphasis in Biomechanics, as well as a Master’s in Statistics in May 2020. Her advisor is Joshua Weinhandl, PhD.
Her dissertation work is investigating the influence of fatigue on individual muscle contributions to ACL loading in healthy and ACL-reconstructed females. Her research could have practical significance regarding prevention strategies and rehabilitation protocols. Providing invaluable information to coaches and clinicians to better protect their female athletes.
