Diversity Action Plan

The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences has developed the Diversity Action Plan as part of our commitment to make the college and campus community an inclusive environment for all students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Spring 2023

  • Identify and develop initiatives to attract, recruit, and retain a diverse faculty, staff, and administration
  • Launch a sustainable plan to recruit and retain students (graduate an undergraduate) from historically underrepresented populations
  • Work with departments to implement their diversity action plans; document meetings with departments, initiatives, and results
  • Develop (on paper) a mentoring plan for new Faculty of Color

Summer/Fall

  • EIJ Institute
  • Continue to work with departments on implementing DEI plans; document meetings with departments, initiatives, and results
  • Provide professional development on incorporating diversity concepts into teaching
  • Conduct research on DEI initiatives
  • Work on initiatives outlined in DEI plan (college plan)

2022

  • Offer members of the college multiple opportunities to attend diversity, equity, and inclusion programs/events.
  • Foster a sense of community among staff and faculty, with attention to underrepresented populations, through mentoring programs, advisory groups, and other opportunities.
  • Identify and develop initiatives to attract, recruit, and retain a diverse faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Launch a sustainable plan to recruit and retain students (undergraduate and graduate) from historically underrepresented populations.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Engagement, establish a community partner advisory board to support college engagement with the community.
