With excitement, CEHHS AE will launch a new initiative this academic year: Communities of Care. This initiative aims to foster a culture of compassion, belonging, and support among our CEHHS community. We hope these groups will complement the educational Communities of Practice featured in our college’s many professional development events.
You can get involved with the Communities of Care in two ways:
- Joining a Community of Care
- Attending community-building events
Joining a Community of Care
Based on CEHHS community interest in creating support groups centered on shared interests and identities, CEHHS AE will coordinate informal, self-lead groups within the college. These Communities of Care will meet at least once per semester.
CEHHS DEI will support these efforts by:
- Establishing the communities
- Identifying leaders
- Providing support/funds for gatherings
To begin, CEHHS community members have suggested the following communities:
- LGBTQIA+ Faculty (faculty only)
- Faculty of Color (faculty only)
- International Faculty (faculty only)
- Faculty with Disabilities (faculty only)
- Caregivers of Children
- Outdoor Adventurers (and Wannabes)
- Foodies Unite – for all CEHHS food lovers
- Page Turners – for all CEHHS book lovers
Please complete this questionnaire by Friday, November 3 to express your interest in any of these suggested groups or your own idea. You must be logged into your UT Knoxville email to complete the form.
CEHHS DEI also will organize one Communities of Care listening session in Fall 2023 to help plan and prepare for spring 2023.
