Coordinator Connection: Project Management for People Who Don’t Have Time for Project Management

Description: Community school coordinators juggle countless initiatives, relationships, and responsibilities all at once. This professional development session, led by Dr. Gena Surgener, equips coordinators with practical project management strategies to bring order to the complexity. From backward planning and task delegation to building simple systems for accountability and follow-through, participants will leave with tools they can put to work immediately.

Dr. Surgener is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 25 years of experience as a special education teacher and school counselor, bringing both deep practical knowledge and formal expertise to this training.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Apply backward planning strategies to organize school-based initiatives and  events
  • Identify actionable first steps that move projects from ideas to implementation
  • Use practical tools to manage committees, communication, and task delegation
  • Prioritize responsibilities and manage time more effectively across multiple initiatives
  • Develop a simple project management system to support accountability and follow-through

This course will address adaptive challenges experienced by coordinators in their role leading a community schools initiative. This program requires active participation from participants.

You qualify as a community school manager if directly or indirectly supervise community school coordinators or provide organizational-level for coordinators. This program requires active participation from participants.
