ELPS PRIORITIES
Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Leadership Enrichment Fund
The Educational Leadership Enrichment Fund was established as a general enrichment fund for the purpose of supporting faculty and student research and travel, instructional initiatives, and other projects related to the overall development of the department. The funds are distributed by the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies department head only when faculty (and students who are working with faculty) submit proposals and budget justification statements that describe the purpose, need, and intended for the project.
Dr. Norma Mertz Endowment Fund
The Norma Mertz Endowment Fund is used to provide support to graduate students in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. This support will include, but is not limited to, graduate student travel, awards, fellowships, teaching assistantships, and other purposes related to the mission of the department.
Educational Leadership Minority Scholarship Fund
The Educational Leadership Minority Scholarship was established in 1988 under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Fred Venditti and the Black Advisory Committee with a seed gift and ultimately endowed by contributions of other caring and concerned educators.
The purpose, as stated by Dr. Venditti, “will be to help a black man or woman with outstanding potential to become a school administrator or, if already an administrator, to upgrade himself or herself academically. We are convinced our effort to assist (these men and women) will pay important dividends in the future. Ultimately, they will play a key role in determining the emphasis given to academic achievement, building bridges between the school and the community and inspiring black children to aspire to worthy goals in their personal lives and within our society.”
This scholarship is awarded to a minority doctoral student in the Leadership Studies unit (minority is defined broadly) who displays excellence in scholarship, sensitivity to current social problems, and a high degree of leadership potential.
College Student Personnel Fund
The College Student Personnel Fund was established to support students, co-curricular initiatives, and alumni engagement. Funds are used to support student travel, alumni receptions, academic initiatives, student recruitment, and the Norma T. Mertz Outstanding CSP Student Award.
