ADMINISTRATION

Through the educational administration graduate programs, the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies prepares entry-level and executive-level administrators for schools and colleges.

These graduate programs are designed for professional educators and others who are interested in leadership, school organizations, research, and policy. The graduate degree programs are designed to enrich the knowledge, skills, and values requisite to effective leadership in educational practice settings.

Doctoral Program (PhD)

This doctoral program is directed toward developing practitioner-scholars who understand the power of ideas and who place those ideas in service to improve educational practice. In addition, the program seeks to develop both the skill and disposition for thoughtful inquiry, policy analysis, and evaluation.

Doctor of Education (EdD)

The Doctor of Education program is designed to provide advanced study in district leadership, a unique focus among doctoral programs. The program provides a pathway to prepare school practitioners to become practitioner-scholars and to serve in district-level leadership positions including the superintendence.

Online Leadership Studies Program (EdS, MS, Certificate)

The Online Leadership Studies program offers Masters of Science (MS) and Specialist in Education (EdS) degrees in Educational Administration with the option of obtaining a Tennessee Instructional Leadership License (ILL). For candidates who already have a masters degree and who are interested in a principal’s license, the Online Leadership Studies program offers the option of a one-year certificate program which leads to a Tennessee Instructional Leadership license.
