LEADERSHIP STUDIES MINOR

HONORS TRACK

Most people only think about developing leadership when it is tied to a formal role. At Leadership Studies – Honors, our curriculum starts with the idea that leadership is an activity available to anyone, at any time! The Leadership Studies – Honors course sequence is a 12-credit minor that helps students learn how to practice leadership activity!

This program is open to Honors students from all majors and aims to enhance the collegiate experience by preparing students for career and civic life beyond graduation. The curriculum uses hands-on learning to teach leadership. Students will have structured learning opportunities that combine contemporary leadership studies theory with coached leadership experiences.

These coached leadership experiences are designed to give students real-life practice in engaging with leadership processes, facilitating change in civic and organizational contexts, and navigating group dynamics to make progress on adaptive leadership challenges. Students will get personalized feedback from professional quality leadership developers that are committed to using evidence-based teaching methods to develop leadership capacity. Honors students have coached leadership experiences in the areas of team science, community-engaged scholarship, and civic & community engagement.
