ADULT & CONTINUING

EDUCATION

The Adult & Continuing Education (ACED) program within the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies consists of educational research and development experiences. This program, which utilizes completely asynchronous methodology, will prepare you for a fulfilling career as an educator, researcher, scholar, or any other practitioner who works with adult learners. With a degree from the ACED program within ELPS, our graduates use their knowledge of adult learning to advance their careers in every capacity.

MS

The Master’s in Education, Adult and Continuing Education program is designed to meet the sophisticated educational needs of professionals engaged with adult learners across various settings. The MA in adult and continuing education encompasses courses in adult learning and development, program planning, workplace learning, non-Western learning perspectives, ethical considerations, professional practices, research, and adult instruction. It emphasizes cultivating reflective practitioners who engage in leadership and service initiatives to foster adult learning in diverse environments, including the international community. This specialization can serve as a foundational pathway for doctoral studies in adult and continuing education or related disciplines.

PhD

The program is characterized by students who come from varied professional and personal backgrounds, are intellectually curious, and supportive of the other students. In interactive courses, students explore how adults learn and develop through an understanding of research, theory, and reflective practice. With a degree from the department of educational leadership & policy studies, our graduates use their knowledge of adult learning to advance their careers as college instructors, university professors, adult basic education teachers, leaders in non-profit organizations, training and organizational development consultants, and nurse educators.
