Sophia Mosher is a Simulation Educationalist at the Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Simulation (CHIPS) at the UT Health Science Center in Memphis. As a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), she directs the design, implementation, and assessment of manikin-based simulation activities. Initially joining the CHIPS team in 2019, Sophia managed intricate project workflows from a logistics perspective, then transitioned to the education team, where she provides curricular and assessment guidance for simulation educational activities.
In her current role, she provides mentoring and co-facilitation for faculty and facilitators in the development and implementation of simulation-based education across all disciplines. Her previous education work includes development of strategic programs at the university level, and several years teaching high school English, Theater and Speech. This commitment to the field has led to Sophia’s service with the international Society for Simulation in Healthcare, where she serves as an Accreditation Site Reviewer and is actively engaged with the Simulation-Grounded Competency Based Education Affinity Group.
Sophia holds a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Memphis, following her BA in Comparative Cultures and Politics from Michigan State University’s James Madison College. Drawing from a diverse professional background, Sophia’s research interests focus on how questioning strategies and power dynamics in simulation debriefing facilitate learning and transformation of learners’ mental models.
