Dr. Bailey is an assistant professor of practice in the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, where her main role is overseeing student outcomes assessment to ensure day-1 ready Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduates. She also manages student evaluations of teaching, serves as the liaison with UT Student Disability Services, and coordinates two courses in Professional Skills, Wellness, and Ethics (and other duties as assigned, as they say). Days are never dull! Dr. Bailey has been involved with the college’s Master Teacher Program since 2008 and has enjoyed delivering faculty development in teaching both within the college and internationally. One of the most rewarding components of her job has been leading teaching development sessions for three USDA Faculty Exchange Programs–one focused on East Africa and two focused on the Philippines. Not only were knowledge and culture exchanged, but life-long friendships were established. The HEAM PhD program helped provide a solid foundation for success with these endeavors through its focus on putting ideas into service to improve educational practice.

Recent Accomplishments:

• Part of the 2023 inaugural Distinguished Expert cohort with the Academy of Veterinary Educators, currently serving on the credentialing exam committee for that international organization.
• On the U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright Specialist Roster from 2022–2025.
• Served as treasurer for the Southeast Veterinary Education Consortium from 2022–2026.

Advice to Current Students:

• “If you’re a working professional, double dip with your course assignments and make them relevant to your current job. You’ll get double the benefit!”
