Derek Laymon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Bryan College and his Master of Science in Industrial–Organizational Psychology from Capella University. He serves as a Principal Talent Manager and Organizational Development Consultant at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, where he develops and facilitates leadership development, team‑building, and organizational learning programs grounded in emotional intelligence and authentic communication. Mr. Laymon is currently pursuing his PhD in Adult and Continuing Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

His scholarly interests include adult learning, psychometrics, and behavioral studies in workplace learners, with a focus on how identity, emotion, and communication shape professional growth. His professional portfolio includes curriculum design in stress management, employee engagement, virtual productivity, healthy team dynamics, change management, and the application of behavioral assessments such as DiSC, Predictive Index, and Pymetrics. He is committed to advancing evidence‑based, human‑centered approaches to leadership and adult learning in organizational settings.
