Math Teacher and Girls Softball Coach, Gray Elementary

Caroline Boswell earned her BS in K-6 Interdisciplinary Studies from East Tennessee State University in 2011. She’s taught fifth grade at Indian Trail Intermediate School and second grade at Saint Mary’s School. She currently teaches fifth grade and coaches girls softball at Gray School in Johnson City, Tennessee. Caroline completed her Master’s degree in Educational Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in May 2025.

“I was inspired to pursue a degree in educational leadership by the Principal of my school who shared that she recognized my potential to be an educational leader.  After researching programs, I found that the University of Tennessee offered a curriculum which most closely matched my goals to grow in both leadership and the ability to facilitate meaningful, student-centered change. The program at UT allowed me to learn from knowledgeable professors who provided meaningful insight about best practices for cultivating a collaborative, collegial school culture while also enhancing the learning environment.  Balancing coursework, responsibilities of a full-time teaching position, and coaching girls softball was manageable because the Canvas modules were clear and easy to navigate. I was able to maintain strong academic performance throughout the program and believe that I have grown both personally and professionally because of the coursework.”
