Amanda Lawhorn

Coordinator of Training, Compliance, and Student Services for Blount County Schools

Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with Teacher Licensure from Maryville College in 2013, her Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Carson Newman University in 2016, and her Specialist of Education in Education Technology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2024. She’s taught English and Language Arts at Bearden High School, South-Doyle Middle School, and Samuel Everett School of Innovation. She most recently taught English at the Freshman Academy, Heritage High School in Maryville, Tennessee.  Amanda completed her Instructional Leadership Graduate Certificate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in May 2025.

“I chose to pursue the graduate certificate in Instructional Leadership as I encountered more leadership roles within my career such as department chair and summer school coordinator. What I loved best about the UTK program was that I was constantly being taught by instructors who had long-lasting legacies in administration or who were currently still serving as leaders within their districts. My assignments were relevant and reflective of the current role of an instructional leader, and I have been able to already use a significant amount of my learning to support my school and district.”
