Tonya earned her BA in English from Carson Newman, her MA in English Literature and her MAT in Secondary Education (7-12)/English from East Tennessee State University. She began her teaching career at Jonesborough Middle School before moving to Clay County Florida where she taught at Fleming High School for several years. Tonya returned to Tennessee in 2023 and currently teaches at Powell High School in Knox County.
