Gresham Collom

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Gresham came to the University of Tennessee as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Postsecondary Education Research Center (PERC) in the fall of 2017. Prior to moving to Tennessee, Gresham attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater while serving as a graduate assistant in University Housing and Multicultural Student Success. As an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, Gresham worked in various roles within the Office of Multicultural Affairs, New Student Orientation, and International Student Services. Gresham holds degrees in Higher Education Leadership (MS) and Criminal Justice (BA). He is an advocate for reforming institutions and practices which harm minoritized persons through critical policy research and activism.

Hobbies and Interests: Hiking, reading (sci-fi/fantasy to escape from academic work!), writing, cooking, and quality time with my partner plus our three dogs.

Fun Facts: I am a direct descendent of Electa Quinney (Wuh-weh-wee-nee-meew Quan-au-kaunt), a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Tribe and the founder of one of the first schools in Wisconsin. She was the first woman to teach in a public school in Wisconsin.
