Successful relationships are key in today’s evolving workplace, but they don’t always come about naturally. With its focus on human development, human service, and communication, the Interpersonal Development minor can amplify your major and round out your credentials as a competitive professional. In this minor, students cultivate relational, communication, and critical thinking skills for use in a wide range of settings.

By completing the Interpersonal Development minor, graduates will:

  1. Identify and refine evidence-based interpersonal skills for successful workplace and personal relationships
  2. Identify personal strengths and areas to improve for optimally effective workplace and personal relationships
  3. Reflect on, explain, and analyze how individual, social, and cultural differences can enhance workplace and personal relationships

Who Can Benefit From This Minor?

The minor pairs well with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and other majors that prepare students for careers in technical fields where interpersonal and collaborative skills are necessary for successfully navigating and thriving in the modern workplace.

The minor is also an excellent pathway for students who are drawn toward a career working with people. The coursework provides foundations that students may find helpful when preparing for graduate study in helping professions such as counseling, psychology, and social work.
