Dr. Jillian C. Shipherd
Jillian C. Shipherd is an international expert in trauma recovery and in LGBTQ+ health policy, education, and research. She received the American Psychological Foundation Gold Medal Award for Impact in 2023.
“Shipherd has pioneered national training programs for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on all facets of transgender health care to support policy changes and improvements, positioning clinicians to evaluate and treat this previously ignored and stigmatized group of veterans. Her research has received wide attention in the media and in senior management within the VA. Shipherd has taken her research findings and applied them to make groundbreaking change throughout the VA spanning education and policy.
