Biography
Amanda Hufstedler is a lecturer in literacy education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She holds a BA and MS from the University of Tennessee and an Ed.S from Middle Tennessee State University. Before transitioning to higher education, Hufstedler spent two decades teaching kindergarten through second grade. Her professional interests center on K-5 literacy development and teacher preparation. She is passionate about literacy and finds joy in inspiring future educators. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and being with family and friends.
Literacy education faculty host free virtual literacy series (#UTLitSeries)! Sessions occur once a Month and have a one-hour duration. Topics address literacy development and instruction (e.g., phonological awareness components with practices, oral language).
