Jason Carpenter, Ph.D.
Associate Department Head for Academic Affairs and Assistant Professor of Practice
I’m a Knoxville native who has journeyed through the University of Tennessee Knoxville, earning my B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in retailing. After spending several years as a tenure-track and tenured faculty member at other universities, I’m thrilled to have returned to UTK to contribute as a faculty member! In my current role, I get to teach a dynamic range of courses, offer academic advising, and provide career mentorship to all RMM students, while also coordinating academic affairs for both RMM and HTM. Some of the courses I teach include RMM 210 (Introduction to Retailing), RMM 391 (Leadership in Retailing), and RMM 435 (Retail Planning & Allocation). I also have the pleasure of supervising all RMM students as they embark on their required internships. It’s a privilege to work at my alma mater and to give back all the incredible experiences that the retail program provided me.
