UT-PLAYS is a non-credit generating professional development program leading to initial teacher licensure or additional endorsements.
UT-PLAYS programs are designed for working educators. All learning will take place online, asynchronously via Canvas Catalog at a time that works for you.
UT-PLAYS is an affordable, accessible program that focuses on teacher licensure. This program does not lead to a degree, however successful completion of UT-PLAYS coursework qualifies participants to transfer six (6) credit hours into a master’s or EdS program via low-cost proficiency exam process.

Program Eligibility
UT-PLAYS offers options for both initial teacher licensure (for those who want to become teachers) as well as additional credentials for existing teachers.
Initial Licensure
UT-PLAYS initial licensure programs are open to individuals with a 4-year degree and a desire to become K-12 educators. There are two pathways to initial licensure: Apprenticeship and Job Embedded. The cost of the job-embedded pathway is $2500 for a year subscription.
Additional Endorsements
UT-PLAYS additional endorsement programs are open to any Tennessee educator who (a) holds an active academic teaching license in the state of TN and (b) is currently employed by a TN school system. The cost of the program is $1250 for a year subscription.

Limited Licensure Advancement
If you are a teacher currently with limited licensure, UT PLAYS offers a coursework package required by the Tennessee Department of Education to transition your Limited Licensure to Practitioner Licensure. The cost of the program is $1250 for an annual subscription. This advancement pathway is open to all teaching endorsements, as long as you are currently serving on a Limited License.
