The School Psychology Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville offers an Education Specialist (EdS) degree and a Doctoral (PhD) degree. Hosted in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education, both programs will prepare graduates to work to improve the quality of services for children and youth in a variety of settings.
Education Specialist (EdS)
The EdS degree in School Psychology is a three-year, on-campus program designed to prepare qualified school psychologists who can provide evidence-based assessment, consultation, and interventions in K-12 settings. The third year of the EdS program is a year-long internship.
Doctoral (PhD)
The doctoral program strives to develop school psychologists who can primarily promote students’ mental health, cognitive/academic development, and social adjustment. We seek to prepare professionals who advocate for and work collaboratively with children, educators, parents, and the community to design more effective and evidence-based educational experiences.
The School Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA)* and approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). In addition, the program is accredited or approved by the Tennessee State Department of Education.
