Program overview

The departments of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and Theory & Practice in Teacher Education both offer an MS in Education. Six concentrations are available: Adult and Continuing Education, Advanced Educational Studies, Computing, AI, and Data Analytics in Education, Evaluation Methodology, and Learning, Design, and Technology. 

An MS in Education is for students who are looking to tackle complex educational challenges, advocate for students, and drive meaningful change in schools and communities. Students will graduate with the knowledge of adult learning and development, program planning, and quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods evaluation designs.

Introduction to Qualitative Research in Education

Overview of various qualitative approaches, data collection, and analysis methods. 

Online Learning Environments

Theory, research, and practice of designing, developing, and evaluating online learning environments, including distance education and blended learning approaches.

AI for Educators 

 Provides a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of K-12 education. Topics include AI literacy, ethical considerations, and practical applications for teaching and learning. Students will explore how to teach AI concepts to K-12 learners, integrate AI tools into teaching tasks, and develop professional policies regarding AI use in the classroom. 

Learning with Technology in the School and Community 

Explores learning with educational technologies in school and the community. Will consider learning at home, through online and social-media-based contexts, and in public spaces. Will examine how practices related to communication, assessment, and learning can be modified or transformed through the use of educational technologies. Will also examine strategies and techniques for the effective integration of technologies into teaching.
