Our MS in Counseling prepares counselor-advocate-scholars with a strong professional identity and skills for effective practice in diverse settings.
Graduates of our program understand and apply the foundational knowledge necessary for success as professional counselors and develop therapeutic relationships that are deeply healing, culturally sustaining, developmentally responsive, and ethical.
Program overview
The MS in Counseling is housed in the Department of Counseling, Human Development, and Family Science and prepares counselor-advocate-scholars with a strong professional identity and skills for effective practice in diverse settings. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) concentration equips professional counselors for independent practice across a wide variety of community settings. The School Counseling concentration equips professional school counselors for practice in P-12 educational settings. A dual option allows students to complete requirements for practice in both concentrations.
