Rachel Wong is an assistant professor in Learning, Design, and Technology/STEM education in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She currently also serves as the coordinator of the Learning, Design, and Technology master’s program, previously known as the Instructional Technology master’s program.

Her primary research interests focus on bridging the gap between research and practice to support diverse learners across a variety of educational contexts. This work spans several interconnected areas: advancing STEM learning opportunities in rural K–12 settings, promoting evidence-based practices through meta-analyses and systematic reviews, examining spatial learning strategies such as concept mapping to enhance knowledge acquisition, and designing multimedia learning environments with computer-based resources. Her research has been funded by federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.
