Kai Zhuang Shum is an assistant professor in school psychology in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and an affiliated faculty member of the Korn Learning, Assessment, and Social Skills Center (KLASS).
Her research interests include initiating and sustaining school mental health research and services, integrating motivational interviewing and positive psychology interventions in school-based mental health services, and supporting the unique needs of students in accelerated curricula (Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and gifted programs). When Professor Shum is not working on her research or teaching, you can find her tending to plants, playing with her dog, or traveling!
