Enilda Romero-Hall is an associate professor of learning, design and technology education in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and program coordinator of the learning, design, and technology (LDT) program and Graduate Coordinator of the learning, design, and technology doctoral program.

Over the last 10 years, the research agenda of Professor Romero-Hall has focused primarily on investigating emerging online learning experiences. Most of her research focuses on populations within higher education and industry settings. She is particularly interested in a) the design and development of interactive multimedia, b) faculty and learners’ digital literacy and preparedness, and c) networked learning in online social communities. In addition to online learning, other areas of her research interest include innovative research methods in learning design and technology; culture, technology and education; and feminist pedagogies.

Romero-Hall is an advocate of experiential learning and internationalization of the education curriculum; therefore, she engages in study abroad opportunities. In the past, she served as the coordinator of the study abroad program to Switzerland titled “Teaching and Learning Innovation in Switzerland.”

In her LDT coordination role, she monitors the progress and concerns of the students, continuously improve program policies and procedures, serves as contact person for inquiries related to the doctoral program and aids in the creation of partnerships with various external organizations.

Romero-Hall is an active member and has served in leadership roles of various professional organizations, including the Association of Educational Communications (AECT) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She served on the board of the AECT Research and Theory Division for nine consecutive years. This included serving as president-elect, president and past-president. Romero-Hall also served as the communication liaison for the AERA SIG Design and Technology for three years.
