Arts-Based Data Visualization Project

Arts-Based Data Visualization Project Pages

The Arts-Based Data Visualization Project is a STEAM project intended to inspire and support Grade 4-8 students’ data visualizations across arts and STEM learning contexts. It draws upon the work of contemporary artists, who engage with data in fresh and innovative ways, embracing nontraditional materials, immersive qualities, and visual metaphors to contextualize data. These artists’ data visualizations can inspire students’ own sensemaking and endeavors to communicate information and ideas to the public.

This project involves three strands: (1) designing and implementing curriculum in middle-grade classrooms, (2) designing and conducting teacher professional development, and (3) researching these efforts.
