Literacy Studies Concentration, English as a Second Language Specialization
The PhD in Education, Literacy Studies, English as a Second Language Education Specialization program examines teaching and learning from the lens of sociolinguistic, sociocultural, and sociopolitical perspectives to leverage language teaching practice and provide equitable learning opportunities for English Learners (ELs). Guided by goal of the program, the ESL-Education Specialization program aims to prepare candidates to design and conduct rigorous research and become faculty at higher education institutions to ultimately contribute to the betterment of society.
