Educational Studies Concentration, American Sign Language (ASL) Education Specialization
The Educational Studies concentration does not lead to initial teacher licensure but, depending on the student’s program of study, may lead to an additional endorsement area for an already licensed teacher. It is designed for students who hold a valid Tennessee teaching license, are preparing to teach on the post-secondary level, or are preparing for careers that do not require teacher licensure. Non-licensed applicants to Education Studies concentration will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must have a strong disciplinary background and professional goals, which can be fostered through participation in the non-licensure program.
The ASL Education specialization is for students who:
- hold a valid Tennessee teaching license, or
- are preparing to teach on the post-secondary level, or
- are preparing for careers that do not require teacher licensure
