Alexis N. Boucher is an assistant professor in special education in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and an affiliated faculty member of the Tennessee Reading Research Center (TRCC).
Her research aims to identify and develop effective reading interventions for students in upper elementary grades with word reading difficulties/dyslexia. Alexis is an experienced elementary educator who taught students with high incidence disabilities in integrated co-teaching classrooms and resource room settings during her tenure at NYCDOE. She enjoys mentoring and teaching pre-service and in-service educators, administrators, and researchers who are committed to: (a) developing knowledge of typical and/or atypical reading development, and (b) identifying, implementing, and developing evidence-based reading instruction and/or intervention.
