Congratulations to PhD student McKenzie Granata, who was recently presented at the National Rural Health Association’s (NRHA)<\/a> annual conference.<\/p>\n

During the conference, she gave a talk titled “The Mental Health of Caregivers of Individuals Living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Rural and Urban Comparison”, which was based on a study conducted by both she and Dr. Phoebe Tran<\/a> (both as first authors)\u00a0 The study examined how rural versus urban resident status influenced the number of poor mental health days COPD caregivers had each month. While residence status showed no statistical significance, more than one in four COPD caregivers reported having 14+ days of poor mental health per month, which translates to having a poor mental health quality of life.<\/p>\n
