The graduate application is located on the <a href=\"http:\/\/graduateadmissions.utk.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Graduate Admissions website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Department Programs<\/h2>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Undergraduate Program<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Requirements for admission to the Undergraduate program: 2.8 GPA<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cehhs.utk.edu\/publichealth\/undergraduate-programs\/\">https:\/\/cehhs.utk.edu\/publichealth\/undergraduate-programs\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"one-third column \">\n<div class=\"box-light card summitt tx brd-\">\n<h4>MPH Application Deadlines for Campus-based Students<\/h4>\n<h5><em>Domestic Applications:<\/em><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>February 1: Summer admission<\/li>\n<li>April 1: Fall admission<\/li>\n<li>October 1: Spring admission*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><em>International Applications:<\/em><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>International applicants should visit the<a href=\"http:\/\/graduateadmissions.utk.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Office of Graduate Admissions <\/a>for current international deadlines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* Only new <strong><em>part-time <\/em><\/strong>students are accepted for spring admission to our campus-based program.\u00a0 Full time or part time students in any concentration can apply to our distance education program during any semester.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"two-thirds column \">\n<h3>Master of Public Health (MPH)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Requirements for admission to the MPH program:\n<ul>\n<li>A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0, as well as a 3.0 GPA for any graduate level courses previously taken.<\/li>\n<li>Admission to the University of Tennessee Graduate School. An application that has been\u00a0<strong><em>fully completed<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by the appropriate deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Submit all application materials to the graduate school&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/gradschool.utk.edu\/admissions\/applying-to-graduate-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online application.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en\">Provide the following materials with your application:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Supplemental MPH application, which includes a series of guided questions <em>(will be part of the official graduate school application).<\/em><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en\">Resume\/CV.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Three letters of reference completed within the past twelve months by faculty members, academic advisors, employers, or professional colleagues. All letters must be from persons able to assess academic capacity (applications with fewer than three references <strong><em>will not<\/em><\/strong> be reviewed).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>You<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em><strong><u>must<\/u><\/strong><\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>specify a concentration (CHE, EPI, HPM, NUTR, or VPH) when applying to the master&#8217;s program.<\/li>\n<li>All materials should be submitted directly to the Office of Graduate Admission unless instructed otherwise by the department.<\/li>\n<li>Once an application has been fully completed, it will be entered into the departmental review process. Once begun, the review can take one to three weeks to complete. You will be contacted with the results of the review by US mail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><br class=\"clearshortcode\"><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"two-thirds column \">\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health Sciences (PhD)<\/h3>\n<div id=\"custom-collapse-0-0\" class=\"panel-collapse panel-collapse collapse in\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<ul>\n<li>General requirements set forth by the University of Tennessee, Graduate School <a href=\"http:\/\/gradschool.utk.edu\/admissions\/\">http:\/\/gradschool.utk.edu\/admissions\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale on master\u2019s degree coursework, shown in official transcripts. For students without a Master\u2019s degree or coursework, a required GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) for the undergraduate degree.<\/li>\n<li>Three letters of reference completed within the past 12 months by faculty members, academic advisors, or employers or professional colleagues. At least two letters must be from persons able to assess applicant\u2019s academic and research capabilities, job performance or professional promise. A personal statement to demonstrate the evolution of your interest in public health and how PhD program will prepare you to work in the field of public health.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to clearly articulate a defined career pathway, which incorporates practice and research experience and skills, upon interview.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated skill in a professional, research, or academic writing sample. A writing sample of scientific writing should be submitted (preferably the applicant is either the sole author or first authored approximately 2,000-3,000 words). Materials sent to the wrong office could result in the delay of completion of your application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications of students who have not first been admitted by the graduate school<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><u>cannot<\/u><\/em><\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>be reviewed and will be considered incomplete. Student applications are not made available to the department until the graduate school has first completed its own review. Therefore, in order to meet the department deadline, it is not enough to merely apply to the graduate school by the department deadline date. Please allow ample time when applying in order for the graduate school to complete its review prior to the department deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Please allow at least four to eight weeks in\u00a0order for your application to be completed (all reference letters received and graduate school review). Very rarely are applications submitted near a deadline able to be completed on time. Once your application has been completed and reviewed by the graduate school, the graduate school will then release the material to the Department of Public Health for our own internal review.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Seasonal fluxes\u00a0in the number of applications received can affect the timeliness in which the graduate school is able to review applications.
