Covers experimental, quasi-experimental and non-experimental study designs and the strengths and limitations of each.<br \/>\n<em>(RE) Prerequisite(s): PUBH 530 or Statistics 531 or consent of instructor<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBH 540\u00a0 Epidemiology (3)<br \/>\n<\/strong>The distribution and determinants of health-related outcomes in specified populations with application to control of health problems. Issues addressed include: historical origins of discipline, hypothesis formulation, research design, data and error sources, measures of frequency and association, etiologic reasoning, and disease screening.<br \/>\n<em>(DE) Prerequisite: Introductory statistics.<\/em><em> Registration Restriction(s): Admission to MPH, public health nutrition (MS), or doctoral program in Public Health or consent of instructor.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBH 552 Assessment and Planning (3)<\/strong><br \/>\nThis course applies an ecological framework to health assessment and program planning to address health disparities.<\/p>\n<h3>Seminar:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>PUBH 509 Graduate Seminar in Public Health (1)<\/strong><br \/>\nIn-depth discussion of timely topics reflecting scope of public health as a discipline and its interrelation with many other academic and professional disciplines. Speakers both internal and external to The University of Tennessee are featured.<br \/>\n<em>May be repeated. Maximum 4 hours. (Same as Kinesiology 509, Nursing 509, Nutrition 509, and Social Work 509.)
