Biography

R. Steve McCallum, PhD is a professor within the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UT), and Interim Associate Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs for the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. He obtained his PhD in 1979 at the University of Georgia and worked for a few years as an applied school psychologist before becoming a trainer of school psychologists. For most of his time in academia, he has served as a university administrator, first as Director of the UT School Psychology Program and then as department head for 22 years. Much of his research focuses on assessment-related issues. He is the author or coauthor of more than 200 scholarly works, including books (e.g., Handbook of Reading Assessment, 2nd ed.), book chapters, articles, and tests (e.g., Universal Nonverbal Intelligence Tests 2; Universal Talented And Gifted Screener), and is cofounder and consulting editor of the Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment. He is a Fellow of Divisions 1 and 16 of the American Psychological Association. He has been the recipient of many awards and honors (e.g., Outstanding Alumnus, Georgia Southern University; Chancellor's Citation for Creative Achievement and Research, University of Tennessee; Distinguished Alumni Award, University of Georgia).
