Interim Director, Advising and Student Services
Demetria D. Mells serves as the Interim Director of Advising and Student Service, having served as the Associate of Director for Recruitment and Engagement since July 2021 for CEHHS. Ms. Mells has been with the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences since July 2014 when she joined as a Coordinator of Teacher Licensure programs. Prior to joining CEHHS, Ms. Mells served as an Academic Advisor at Tennessee Technology University in the College of Education from 2004-2014. She earned her Education Specialist Degree and Master’s of Art degree in Educational Psychology and Counselor Education from Tennessee Technology University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida.
Demetria has 17 years’ experience working in academic advising. She has served as the UT’s chapter of, TennACADA’s president, vice-president and Professional Development Liaison and is an active member in NACADA, the Global Community for Academic Advising. Demetria is passionate about promoting quality academic advising to support the educational needs of scholars. Demetria has completed UT’s inaugural Inclusive Leadership Academy in 2019 and UT’s Supervisory Foundations program in 2020.
