RESEARCH INTERESTS<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In collaboration with regional healthcare organizations, Dr. Wagoner\u2019s research interests are focused on identifying determinants of physical activity and sedentary behavior across clinical populations, assessing the effectiveness of physical activity interventions that are tailored to address these determinants, and utilizing implementation frameworks and scale-up physical activity interventions across clinical and community-based settings. His most recent research has taken this approach across various cancer populations in both clinical and rural settings to better understand the accessibility and effectiveness of physical activity resources and programming.<\/p>\n

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Dr. Wagoner is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and holds a PhD in Human Movement Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2021). Prior to joining the faculty at UTK, Dr. Wagoner was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Calgary (2021-2024), holding appointments in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine. At the University of Calgary, he received the Eyes High Postdoctoral Scholarship Award (2021) and the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute Postdoctoral Scholarship Award (2024) for his work on physical activity interventions for individual living with and beyond cancer in rural settings as well as with individuals diagnosed with head and neck cancer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
