Plotnicki Award<\/a><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"single-collapse-0\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse panel-collapse collapse\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dr. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Plotnicki<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> was a faculty member in Physical Education.\u00a0 He was a long time track official and was instrumental in organizing competitive collegiate handball on a national scale. The Ben A. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Plotnicki<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> plaque is inscribed with the words \u201c<\/span><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Run in the Race, <\/span><\/i><\/b><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Run<\/span><\/i><\/b><b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for the prize, Run with a purpose, Inspire others to do the same<\/span><\/i><\/b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> It is awarded to one or more undergraduates who demonstrate professional promise and personal growth. She showed a true interest in research and was eager to learn. As an undergraduate student, she already demonstrated the critical thinking necessary at the graduate level and beyond. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Marisa is well prepared for the rigors of medical school and has the passion and drive needed to succeed at the highest level.<\/span><span participated in the Melton Scholar Undergraduate Research Program and developed a statistical ticket pricing model to maximize customer value and stadium revenue<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW135436007 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW135436007 BCX2\"> and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW135436007 BCX2\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Emi<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ly Sykes has done a tremendous job representing KRSS and the University of Tennessee\u2019s Women\u2019s Swim team by helping them to win the first SEC championship in the program\u2019s history. She has earned SEC academic honors and has been on the Dean\u2019s List. Emily has balanced being an outstanding student and an accomplished athlete. He<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">recently received<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> an<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Undergraduate Student Research award<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Myles serves<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> as a student representative <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">on the KRSS Department Head&#8217;s Student Advisory Board <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">has volunteered with the Volunteers for Christ program and at Sarah Moo<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">re Green Elementary<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. She has worked with the Nashville Predators, coached a high school swim team, and worked in the Tennessee Athletic Department. She has worked with the Tennessee Swimming &amp; Diving team<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Tennessee Fund<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and has worked at numerous SEC Championships.\u00a0 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">She has compiled an impressive resume and has truly developed as <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a sport management professional. Emma exhibits a sincere interest in humanity through her work with the therapeutic recreation camps for youth and adults with disabilities and in her work with the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Koinonia<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Foundation\u2019s \u201cWe Adapt\u201d programs. The award named in his honor recognizes one or more graduating doctoral students who have excelled in research activities.\u00a0 Recipients must have a minimum of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\">two<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\"> presentations at professional meetings, or <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\">one<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"TextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX2 SCXW238346641\">publication in a refereed journal.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3664 size-full alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cehhs.utk.edu\/krss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2020\/04\/Zachary-Smith.jpg\" alt=\"Zachary Smith\" width=\"150\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Zachary Smith &#8211; <\/strong><em>Sport Management<\/em><br \/>\nPhD Candidate<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Zachary Smith has had a high level of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">research productivity. To date, he has published seven manuscripts in high quality, refereed journals<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">lso has one published book chapter to his credit and two accepted for publication. Mr. Smith has made 15 refereed presentations (first auth<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">or on 11) at major conferences and was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">selected as a member of the 2020 American Examples working group hosted by the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Alabama. To aid in bolstering his research skills Mr. Smith served as a research assistant for the Center for the Study of Sport and Religion. Mr. Smith has accepted a position as an assistant professor at The Pennsylvania State University at Harrisburg where he will teach sport studies and conduct research.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3665 size-full alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cehhs.utk.edu\/krss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2020\/04\/Paul-Hibbing.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Hibbing\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul<\/strong><strong> Hibbing<\/strong> &#8211; Exercise Physiology<em><br \/>\nPhD Candidate<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Paul Hibbing has been actively involved in research at UTK, publishing 26 manuscripts. Paul, has not only developed into an independent investigator during his time at UTK, he is an exceptional team player. His ability to work in a collaborative manner and make connections has been a key factor in his ability to publish at a high rate. Additionally, Sophie has served as \u201cNote Taker\u201d for Student Disability Services. Morales was presented with the award at the annual NASSS conference, held on Nov. 6-9, 2019 in Virginia Beach, Va. A native of Longmont, Colo., Morales is pursuing dual master\u2019s degrees in sport management and sociology with an expected graduation date of May 2020. He is currently working on a thesis that examines media coverage of Jonathan Gonz\u00e1lez, a U.S.-born Mexican-American soccer player who competes for the men\u2019s Mexican National Soccer Team.
