The Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies (KRSS) is proud to have partnered with the Department of Public Health and Nutrition to host the inaugural Health and Human Science Internship Fair.
Held on Tuesday, November 18, the event brought together 60 internship sites and 245 students in the Student Union. Students had access to free professional headshots and résumé printing through the Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration. Campus partners including Vol Edge, ELPS, and several KRSS student organizations also hosted tables in the student lounge.
Some of the most common sites in attendance included Lanai Therapies, LLC; UT Athletics; the Tennessee Department of Health; Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley; Emerald Youth Foundation; Knoxville Ice Bears; City of Knoxville Parks & Recreation; and CORA Physical Therapy.
For more distant sites unable to attend in person such as Challenge Alaska, The Traveling Gnomes, and River Valley Health, students were able to conduct virtual meetings using iPads and headsets purchased through a $37K technology grant.
Internship fairs allow students to build connections, gain experience, and explore opportunities. We are grateful for every site that partnered with us to take field experience to the Next Level.
