Study Pays Students to Exercise
A pilot study conducted by a group of researchers in the Brown School of Public Health examined whether small payments could motivate students to exercise. Twenty-two undergraduate students participated and were split into two groups; a control group that did not receive monetary incentives and an experimental group that did. Kelley Strohacker, current assistant professor of Exercise Physiology in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, & Sport Studies, was a postdoctoral researcher and lead author of the article published in the November issue of American Journal of Health Behavior.
