{"id":1488,"date":"2018-10-22T15:00:26","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T15:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cehhs.utk.edu\/klass\/?p=1488"},"modified":"2019-05-10T18:45:02","modified_gmt":"2019-05-10T18:45:02","slug":"impact-of-typing-skills-on-student-writing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cehhs.utk.edu\/klass\/2018\/10\/22\/impact-of-typing-skills-on-student-writing\/","title":{"rendered":"Impact of Typing Skills on Student Writing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the recent Mid-South Regional Conference for Psychology in the Schools, Jessica Kotik and Brooke Killion, students left to right of the poster in the photo, presented on a study completed that examined the differences between typed and handwritten writing performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Students in a rural school who had computer access at school, but not at home produced significantly more handwritten words than typed, while students in a suburban school who had computer access at school and at home produced significantly more when typing. Typing speed and typed writing quality revealed a strong positive relationship.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Other results and implications are outlined in the linked poster.
