Biography<\/h4>

Cate Smith is a clinical associate professor in\u00a0special education<\/a>\u00a0in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.<\/p>\r\n

Smith earned her BS and MS degrees from the University of Tennessee. Following her master\u2019s, she taught students with moderate to profound intellectual and developmental disabilities in public schools in East Tennessee. After five years in the classroom, she earned a doctorate in education with a concentration in special education from the University of Tennessee. She joined the faculty of Appalachian State University from 2013-2018 before coming to the University of Tennessee in 2018.<\/p>\r\n

Smith serves as the\u00a0Job-Embedded Practitioner<\/a>\u00a0coordinator for teachers pursuing special education licensure.<\/p>
