How can I participate in IP\/PiPES?<\/h3>\n

All ninth and tenth-graders at Jellico High School, Sequoyah High School, Sweetwater High School, and Tellico Plains High School participate in IP\/PiPES. Students from the University of Tennessee visit classes for five weeks of discussions about college and STEMM careers. Participation in IP\/PiPES occurs during the school day at no cost to students.<\/p>\n

What is STEMM?<\/h3>\n

STEMM stands for science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical science. There are many opportunities available for jobs related to these areas. More information about STEMM careers can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Where can I find more information about paying for college?<\/h3>\n

Talking to your school counselor is a great place to start gathering more information about paying for college. The Tennessee Promise program provides two years of free community college if you meet certain criteria. Additional funding information for college can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How do I get to go to the summer program?<\/h3>\n

We offer two summer program experiences that allow students to experience college campus life; explore cutting-edge science, technology, engineering, math, and medical science (STEMM) career paths; and investigate public service project ideas. About fifty students from all four schools are able to participate in camp. More information about camp, including an electronic application, is provided to students at school in February of each school year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
