Now Ranked 54th Nationally in Annual Assessment, 43rd Among Public Institutions<\/em><\/p>\n

For the fourth assessment year in a row, the\u00a0Bailey Graduate School of Education (BGSE)<\/a>\u00a0has risen in the annual\u00a0U.S. News & World Report<\/a>\u00a0rankings of top graduate schools in the nation. For 2023, BGSE has risen to a rank of 54 from 59 in 2022. Among public institutions, BGSE ranks 43rd,\u00a0<\/sup>up from 45th<\/sup>\u00a0the previous year.<\/p>\n

U.S. News & World report conducts an annual assessment of graduate schools across the country. It focuses on nine metrics including peer assessment, administrative assessment, mean GRE scores, ratio of doctoral students to faculty, doctoral acceptance rate, doctorates granted, funded research, ratio of funded research per faculty member, and total graduate enrollment.<\/p>\n

While several graduate programs are seeing a decline in enrollment nationally, BGSE has seen a marked increase in the number of students applying for admission.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has long been a leader in graduate-level educator preparation, and we\u2019re dedicated to continuous program improvement, as reflected by the rise in our rankings. The high quality of UT Knoxville\u2019s graduate programs in education continue to attract talented prospective educators. While many programs in education are reporting a decline in enrollment, we\u2019re experiencing record-numbers of applicants into our programs. Now and in the future, we\u2019ll continue to provide the highest-quality preparation for teachers, leaders, and support professionals in education, \u201csaid David Cihak, Associate Dean, Professional Licensure and Director of BGSE.<\/p>\n

BSGE consists of four departments within the UT Knoxville College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS), which focus on child and family studies, educational leadership and policy, educational psychology and counseling, and theory and practice in teacher education. The graduate school focuses on creating a world that values knowledge, education, and health to contribute to an improved quality of life for all.<\/p>\n
