Documentation of intellectual disability as well as an Individualized Education Program (or equivalent) are required. Upon application, it is expected that students will demonstrate the following minimal requirements:<\/p>\n<div class=\"half \">\n<ul>\n<li>Active student participation throughout the application\/interview process<\/li>\n<li>Have proof of eligibility for IDEA or 504 accommodations while in school<\/li>\n<li>Possess, or expect to possess prior to beginning the FUTURE program, a state-recognized high school diploma in any of the 4 TN Diploma Pathways: Regular, Special Education, Alternative, or Occupational<\/li>\n<li>A 9th-grade reading level or higher is recommended (applicants with lower reading levels may be considered for conditional admission)<\/li>\n<li>No severe behavior or emotional problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"half \">\n<ul>\n<li>Basic mathematics understanding and ability to use a calculator<\/li>\n<li>Ability to function independently for a sustained period of time<\/li>\n<li>Ability to change supports and schedules without becoming overly stressed<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be successful in competitive employment situations<\/li>\n<li>Desire and motivation to complete a postsecondary education program<\/li>\n<li>Have health insurance (Medicaid, Medicare, private)<\/li>\n<li>Be between the ages of 18 and 29 at the start of the program<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate ability to communicate with staff, faculty, and mentors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n<br class=\"clearshortcode\"><br \/>\n<b>Can students with autism or an autism spectrum disorder enroll in the program?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If a student with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has a significant cognitive impairment with significant limitation in cognitive functioning and limitations in adaptive behavior and was formerly or currently eligible for IDEA services, that student does meet the definition of an eligible student.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In order to be sure that the FUTURE Program is the best match for our applicants, we require an application [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":317,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-1197","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
