HEAM PhD

Allie Burns started the HEAM PhD program in Summer 2023. Allie works full-time as the associate director for academic and student affairs at UTK’s Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research & Graduate Education. Her research seeks to improve access to graduate education by better understanding the experiences of graduate students with disabilities, especially in STEM fields. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature with an education concentration from Maryville College (2015) and a masters degree in English Literature from UTK (2018). She has experience educating students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels with an emphasis in research skills and academic writing.
