Angela Wegner

CLEE Director

Angela has led the Center for Learning, Education, and Employment (CLEE) as director since July 2023. In this role, she oversees the center’s operations, strategy, and growth, and prioritizes a people-centered culture where the work is grounded in purpose, connection, and high expectations.

Before joining CLEE, Angela served as senior director of special education strategy at the Tennessee Department of Education, where she designed and implemented state-level strategies to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Throughout her career, she has held diverse leadership roles, including classroom teacher, mentor, instructional coach, and elementary school principal. Across these roles, she has been guided by a personal mission to create schools that truly work for every child.

Angela believes deeply in the vast expertise of her team and the leadership team across CLEE. She is committed to participatory leadership and to fostering a culture of joy and innovation so that CLEE works together to create a future where every individual is empowered with limitless opportunities to thrive throughout their life.

In her leisure time, Angela enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two young girls. She loves exploring the outdoors with them, visiting local parks, and traveling to new places. She is a voracious reader and always appreciates book recommendations, particularly those focused on education, leadership, coaching, and designing equitable systems. Angela is currently pursuing her doctorate in leadership and professional practice at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC).

Creating a world where all individuals thrive by transforming education and workforce development.
