{"id":1119,"date":"2016-10-26T12:03:20","date_gmt":"2016-10-26T16:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ceems.utwebteam.wpengine.com\/?p=1119"},"modified":"2016-10-26T12:03:20","modified_gmt":"2016-10-26T16:03:20","slug":"meeting-teachers-at-tmta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cehhs.utk.edu\/ceems\/2016\/10\/meeting-teachers-at-tmta\/","title":{"rendered":"Meeting Teachers at TMTA!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1121 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/ceems.utwebteam.wpengine.com\/files\/2016\/10\/IMG_3135-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"img_3135\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>This year\u00a0CEEMS director Dr. Lynn Hodge and TPTE graduate assistants Ashley Walther and Michael Lawson traveled to Middle Tennessee State University to present at the Tennessee Mathematics Teacher Association state conference. \u00a0At the conference the team met with teachers across the state in two sessions based on their current research and grant work.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 4\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><strong><em>Compatible Pair: Math and Social Justice<\/em><\/strong> was the first session lead by the team. \u00a0In this session teachers experienced a hands-on lesson that combines mathematics and issues of social justice. \u00a0 Teachers also learned and discussed ways to engage students and their communities in meaningful mathematics.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1120 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/ceems.utwebteam.wpengine.com\/files\/2016\/10\/IMG_3134-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"img_3134\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>The second session, <em><b>Engaging Students with STEM<\/b>\u00a0<strong>Activities<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><\/span><\/em>, was also lead by the team. \u00a0In this session teachers learned and discussed\u00a0strategies for incorporating STEM activities in the math classroom. \u00a0Additionally, STEM resources were shared\u00a0while teachers engaged in\u00a0a hands-on STEM lesson.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The travel for this conference was provided by the Tennessee Department of Education Improving Teacher Quality grant.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This year\u00a0CEEMS director Dr. Lynn Hodge and TPTE graduate assistants Ashley Walther and Michael Lawson traveled to Middle Tennessee State [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1119","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Meeting Teachers at TMTA!
